| Keys |
[Jan. 12th, 2009|07:13 pm] |
The limo has been sitting in the cold and won't start without some help.
So this afternoon I pulled my car up beside the limo intending to jump it. I took the limo keys off of my keyring and popped the hood of my car. In the process the limo keys fell from my hand and into the workings of my car.
Todd was able to spot the keys peeking out from under a piece of metal an arm length down, towards the front bumper. The keys are not accessible by hand, or by any tool that I have or can fashion. Son of a bitch my hands and arms are cut up and greasy. I have no limo keys!
I'm going to drive my car to work now, whether the keys are lost or not. |

I've been sleeping in lately until 1pm typically. I think it may be the winter. I haven't read a book since being employed at Plan 9. I'm feeling slow.
A tour is being booked for my band.
I just watched "I am trying to break your heart" and it wasn't mind-blowing. I wanted it to blow my mind. I never got into that album like my friends seemed to have. |

I've been enjoying the perks of my Plan 9 shift. Here's what I've seen in the past couple of weeks, in no particular order.
Paul Newman flicks (got the Spotlight rack, RIP): Cool Hand Luke The Sting The Hudsucker Proxy The Color of Money
Gus Van Sant: Paranoid Park Even Cowgirls Get the Blues
Hal Ashby: Being There The Last Detail
Fellini: 8 1/2 La Strada
Quay Bros The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes The Phantom Museum
various Svankmajer shorts Delicatessen MST3K: Time chasers The Last Waltz Danielson Movie Pitchfork TV! Indiana Jones: Temple of the Crytal Skulls
Fractions of: Phantom of Liberty, Eastern Promises, Dan Akroyd Unplugged on UFOs
deductions: -Paul Newman was a good actor, and an especially amiable presence. There's some Christ imagery in Cool Hand Luke that need some screenshots -UFOs are absolutely extra-terrestrial crafts. -Hal Ashby (director, also, of Harold & Maude) deserves directorial clout (http://www.goodmagazine.com/section/Features/the_directors_director). -Gus Van Sant is a good photographer and a bad film-maker. -My job at the Union complements my Plan 9 shift beautifully!
I'm setting up a print space for silkscreen in my basement, just spent a small fortune on materials. Also, it sounds like I'll be helping out with the new youth print-space at Rhino's.
I registered as a songwriter on BMI. A real songwriter. It seems we've conned Karl and Ross to release The Delicious' first album on Joyful Noise/Decimal Records.
This sounds like I'm selling myself... as a creator and creative consumer. Trying to be creatively productive is important to me. These are the things that feel like a highlights reel. I feel like I've become a lot more closed-minded about what appeals to me. I'm trying to be more receptive lately...
I wish I had an equivalent muse to Daniel Smith's spiritual passion. |

An hour ago I caught a mouse in a plastic cup.
Yesterday I was running up the street to the ATM, to pay for a haircut with cash, wearing dapper work clothes, when a street dude yells at me "You like the Foo Fighters, don't you?!" I asked him to repeat himself then said, "Sure, they're alright." This made the dude pretty happy: "Come here (fancy high fives me)."
Sunday night I rented a collection of Brothers Quay and Svankmajer short films. Dave offered me a Monday night shift at Plan 9. I applied there five years ago!
Relieving a coworker in the metal box today I was duped several times over by a sorostitute. She lied about not receiving a ticket (which was plausible since the machine has been wonky lately), she lied about the time she came into the lot, she lied about being told that she could park for free... I gave her the benefit of the doubt and only charged $1.80 (which is the current price for half an hour). She said she had not intended to pay (as if she didn't have money) and counted her change. "Here's a dollar, sorry, is that ok?" Without replying I took her money and let her out of the lot. Looking at the change it becomes clear that the "dollar" is about 63 cents and 5 or 6 foreign coins-- FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. Several Spanish Euro pennies and one from some eastern country. She was apparently handing out fliers for the dance marathon by Ballantine...
I got a perfect score on this hue vision test http://www.xrite.com/custom_page.aspx?PageID=77 Remember Boomshakkalakka? |

I cut off my handlebars. I quit Kentucky Nightmare.
The Delicious Daytrotter session will be posted next Friday!
Jens Lekman was hanging out at the Russian Recording opening last night. Celebrity is weird.
Have you seen this Avalanches video?
I think Matt Romy will like it. But that's because he introduced me to Kid Koala.

| Old photos- Family Edition |
[Sep. 17th, 2008|04:08 pm] |

Recently I've been digging through my folks' old photos, mining for gold. My dad has a lot of great color snapshots. This selection is of a type common in my mom's family: pictures of Ellsworth with the hint of a grin, a cigarette, and his young daughter (mom) -with her typical- poorly-timed blink.
I dig the creepy dolls. |

1. Hideous tripod vase, I made in ceramics, holds aging zucchini(?) from Roberts' crop.
2. Hilarious still-life photographed by my father at age 13.
3. Melted Cadillac hood-ornament and bug

| brief update |
[Aug. 31st, 2008|08:30 pm] |
I'm listening a lot to the new Walkmen album. I really dig that band. Went to Sedona, AZ with the whole fam last week. Expect the usual touristy pictures of inconceivable mountainous landscapes soon. Emily moved out last week. That's weird. |
